Tucking In

A transition is in the works for our winter weather systems. The next two days are supposed to change from ice and snow to rain, lots of rain.

The change between a week of cold and warmer weather can bring a variety of ice, snow, rain, slick roads and trees loaded with the heavy loads of ‘silver thaw’ when the raindrops freeze on the limbs. Roads are worrisome with the possibility of surprising black ice when all looks clear. Our bridge over the river gets very slick as well, we have been walking across since the Gator does not do well in deep snow, what has not been scooped off the bridge has frozen into solid chunks and they are very slippery.

Wind is also in the forecast and we are hunkering down with the possibility of  power outages again. Tucking in anything that could be moved around in high winds is a necessity as we make sure stock tanks are filled with water and the cattle have a safe place to get out of the weather. Hopefully the transition period will not be too eventful this time around.
