In the Woods

Quick Turnaround

This last week has been a self-imposed time out for firewood delivery. We simply did not have enough bundles made to do a load. It was a good thing that other Co-Op members were able to step up and step in to do extra deliveries in our absence.

In order to make up for our week off, we spent time getting bundles ready for this coming week and for getting more split wood into the garage for final drying for the next couple of weeks supply. As fast as we were emptying cribs of split firewood, they would be moved back across the river to the barn so we could cut and split and stack them back full again.

As of this writing, we only have one crib empty that needs to be refilled. That would have happened on Sunday except for the cold, rainy day had me out in the woods looking for what I expect will be the last batch of Chanterelle mushrooms for the year. My thought was if I was going to get cold and wet I may as well be out tromping through the woods rather that trying to hold onto a slippery chainsaw.

The time out was a welcome respite but we will be back at it this week, rain or shine!
