Glorious Moisture

The weather guessers had been predicting a rainy storm headed our way for more than a week. I had my doubts since the clouds had been threatening for the last several systems with only hints of moisture rather than actual drops of rain.

This time the predictors had it right. Here at the farm, Friday night into Saturday morning we had measureable rainfall totaling 74/100ths of an inch when I checked the gauge at 7am. It was such a relief to feel actual rain falling!

Saturday I had the opportunity to spend time with a group of like-minded small tract forest land owners for a neighbor tour. More on that story will be coming in a later post, but suffice to say it was a glorious day to get wet while touring stands of trees. There was not a single complaint in the group since we had all been praying for a break from these drought conditions we have been experiencing.

The good showers that fell Saturday morning with another surge during the night filled the gauge and at 7am on Sunday showed an additional 1 inch and 53/100ths on our place with moisture falling on nearly all parts of the Pacific Northwest.

The forest, the soil, the plants, the animals, the fires that are still burning throughout the state, and we humans who are practically web-footed from the amount we usually spend in mud, all desperately needed this weather system.
