CattleIn the Fields

Say What?

Sometimes the look I get from the cattle surprises me.

cowAs we were moving the three heifers #69 turned to give me a stink eye. She was not hesitant about loading into the stock trailer, but when it was time to run in the big field with the main herd, she balked.

Under normal circumstances, this heifer is the bossiest of the show animals and has been known to be the first into the barn at feeding time. She picks where she wants to eat and pushes other critters out of her way if she likes the spot they occupy. She is the first out of the barn after feeding and generally tries to rule the roost when the more senior cows are not paying any attention.

Today however, this hesitation took me by surprise and I just had to share it with you!
