A Break From Wintery Storms

Before I even had a chance to start this story, I was informed by my trusty computer that wintery is an old English version of a word I use all the time, the correct spelling should be wintry. While I took the time to go down the proper spelling rabbit hole, I was reminded of smoky and Smokey (as in the wildfire bear mascot). While the seemingly correct spelling is smoky, to me, it looks wrong. I did concede to using the spelling smoky during the terrible wildfire season during the summer, but that is where I draw the line. Today this is a narrative (I was nearly ready to use the word story, but maybe it should be the spelling storey?) but I digress, this account is about wintery, or lack of wintery, even though it may be a bit old fashioned…

The series of wintery storms has subsided and even though we are still slogging through muddy fields, traversing sloppy roads and hearing frogs happy with life, the weather is mild and not uncomfortable for this time of year.

rainbowThat is why I had to snap a few pictures of the pretty rainbows we have been seeing. The steady rain has lessened and we are getting spits and spurts of misty drizzle throughout the day. The rainbows are sure to remind me that it will not be long before we see the grass growing rapidly and warmer weather is on the way.

Your forecast is not agreeing with the professionals who say winter weather complete with snow and/or freezing rain will visit starting tomorrow, but I loved the few days of blue skies and milder temps, too. Sometimes signs of spring are fleeting, for sure.

I am now under the impression that fleeting it is…
