With A Little Moisture

The woods are very dry, yet with the small amount of rain that we had during hay season, some mushrooms are starting to wake in the forest. On our first of the season 100 degree day, a single specimen had popped up during the overnight hours.
This fuzzy specimen was found just steps from a skid road that had been made in the forest last year.
I have been unable to identify this species other than it being a very thick, leathery, fuzzy mushroom. Definitely not one I would want to see if it is edible or not since it would be so tough to chew. But the sight of this mushroom makes me look forward to seeing what the autumn has in store for us.
