Well Hello There

One of the neat things of using the website, it has given me the chance to share some of the surprises of daily farm life along with chronicling the adventures, the chores, the triumphs and the failures. This story is one of those surprises.

I had a little visitor as I was doing the morning feeding in the show barn the other day.

I noticed a doe sneaking around in the far end of the pasture as the two cows and four heifers came running into the barn for their breakfast. The deer was watching as the six walked though the gate and into the barn. I was able to snap a couple of pictures while the cows were eating their hay.

The deer had not bolted as the small herd scooted around the pasture toward the barn but followed at a distance to see what the commotion was about.

Once the cows were inside, she nosed around the back wall of the barn and down the fence line before sticking her head up over the board fence to see if she should investigate further.

Not finding anything of interest, she meandered to the edge of the field and bounded over the fence toward the river. The encounter was short-lived but one that made me smile for the day.
