Typical Monday Morning

Monday is a day that is set aside out of my usual week to recharge my batteries and this happens at the local Senior Community Center. First off, this is a good time to share (I would use the word unload here but it sounds better to say share) some of the farm goodies that are available.

Taking in a container or two in to town of whatever happens to be wildly producing is the norm. This time of year it is usually a box full each Monday since things are winding down and it won’t be long before winter brings everything to a halt.

I have been blessed with this supportive group that meets every Monday morning in a classroom setting. At times we nearly burst the walls of our room gathering 20, 25 or more people for the class. But the group is more than just a class, it is a social gathering, a critique group, and darn near a ministry. There are accomplished writers and poets, school age kids, teachers, physicians, cops, musicians, bus drivers and a wide variety of folk. There are trials and errors, discussions and friendly arguments over sentence structures, punctuation, verbiage and meanings. Along with talking there is the writing, lots of writing.

Taking a little down time from the farm is essential to keep a balance in my life. When issues arise and my normal Monday away seems impossible, Mike reminds me that I tend to get grumpy (and stay that way for several days) if I miss my Monday class. He practically pushes me out the door to get away for a few hours. Things get taken care of in spite of my absence.
