Transparent Apples
The variety of the earliest apples are now ripe enough to eat.
This treat only lasts a few weeks at the most. The Yellow Transparent apples are a tart, soft skinned fruit and need to be eaten right after picking because they bruise so easily.
By the second day after harvest, the apple starts to break down and lose its crispy goodness, by the fourth day they are no longer tasty to eat.
This apple is one of my favorites to dehydrate because of their texture and makes a dandy apple pie. (I like to add a bit of brown sugar to the apple filling to give the hint of caramel with the cinnamon)
With hot weather in the forecast for the next week, the crop will need to be taken care of quickly before they all drop and become cow feed.
