Swapping In The Driveway

The yearling bull, #50 Goodrich, that was spoken for a couple of months ago was now ready to be picked up by his new owners.

We still had to deal with the extremely mushy field to get the bull loaded. We had sorted him the day before the move from the bull pen to the show barn so we would not have the other bulls causing disturbances. We had to take one of the other bulls to walk with him because he didn’t want to go by himself, once in the barn pen we moved the other bull back out to his buddies in the bull pen.

Because of all the snow and rain we had during February, the path from the driveway to the show barn where the loading would take place is way too sloppy for a pickup with stock trailer, we would have had to drag it into position with a tractor and drag it back out after loading.

two stock trailers back to backInstead, Mike hooked our stock trailer to the big tractor and loaded #50 easily and moved the trailer to the driveway. He backed our loaded trailer flush up against the stock trailer of the family that purchased #50 and let him calmly walk from one trailer to the other. Once inside his destination trailer, the doors were closed and he headed off to a herd of his own.
