Sure Beats Crankcase Oil
Did I mention lately how much I appreciate my readers? If I haven’t, I have been sorely remiss. I get so many nudges, suggestions, ideas, plans, tutorials, requests and downright demands to apply to my adventures. This story came to me from local fellow tree farmers and it is so brilliant I just had to share it with all of you. Here is the email (and it even includes a video!).
This from Cedar Row Farm:
She wraps the baskets in blackberry. No shortage of that around, and it definitely keeps the deer off the baskets. It does take time, though. Every year, she raises the baskets and makes sure they are still wrapped with blackberry. Here is a link to a video of her demonstrating her technique, and also a picture of one of her success stories. We planted quite a bit of cedar along the Nehalem in our CREP project. Those trees finally got above the elk, and are doing super well. They are almost as big as the fir!
