Salmonberry Blooms

salmonberry bloomsI’m so excited to spot the Salmonberries blooming. The beautiful red blossoms are very showy and easily spotted. The plants look a lot like the stalks of raspberries as they have popped up above the other scrub plants around the edges of the forest.

The fruit that sets on later can come in a variety of reds, pinks or yellows. Here at the farm our Salmonberries are yellow in color, which seems contrary to the pretty pink blooms but nature definitely does its own thing.

The berries will not be ready for another month or two but in my mind I am already tasting the delicious fruit.
