Quiet With StillWater

Cow with newborn calfNot to be outdone by her pen-mate Stormy, Quiet delivered her baby the very next day. These two cows have been sharing the show barn and outside pasture for the last year and have been doing their job of keeping the four weaned heifers housed with them. Many of you may remember that Quiet delivered her baby, HeartThrob, last year on Valentine’s Day. This year the baby has been born a little later in the year that matches with when we moved a bull in with these cows.

When it was morning feeding time, I had gotten the heifers eating in the manger with Stormy and her new calf on the other side of the barn. Quiet waited patiently, with her calf by her side, just outside the barn while I got the gates opened up for her to walk her baby through in order to stay away from the heifers. Quiet and her baby are now on the nursery side of the barn with Stormy and Cirrus.

Welcome to the farm, bull calf StillWater born 4/9/2020 weighing in at 85 lbs. This is the only other calf to be sired by SAF Grasshopper before he moved onto his own herd in Washington State.
