Puddles Everywhere
The ground had been dry for this time of year until this last week of storms, now we have puddles in the tracks out to the barns, in the driveway, along the county road and in the log landing.
The moisture was sorely needed and the puddles will soak into the ground in a couple of days. Our fire season (along with required restrictions on logging) that was looming and expected to begin by now will be holding off for at least a few more days.
The log landing is so wet that we cannot walk through from one side to the other and we do not want to run the bulldozer through for it would make a terrible mess. Driving a log truck or any vehicle would only cause it to get stuck.
On the flip side, the garden is very happy with the extra attention it is getting from Mother Nature. The warm rain and mild nights have set the plants into overdrive and we are harvesting kale, lettuce, radishes and green onions at a wild pace in an effort to keep up with the growth.
The flowers also are enjoying the rain as we see the forecast for drier weather right around the corner.
