Overnight In The Yard

I was happy to see the second round of Chanterelles popping up in the woods, but I was really happy to see a second round of Brown Field Mushrooms begin to make an appearance. (These are the ones that taste similar to the white mushrooms that can be purchased in the store)

brown field mushroomsMany of you may recall a post from earlier this fall about missing the Brown Field Mushrooms that popped up and quickly grew too big and past their prime. Even before I knew they were there. It is highly unusual for the mushrooms to produce again after the nights we had in the 20 degree range but the last surge of warm rains has them returning.

Overnight they emerged from underground and I was able to get enough for several meals and even dried a few for winter soups. So glad that I was not skunked for this round of Brown Field Mushrooms.
