Keeping It Tidy

I try to keep the barns tidy, it is more out of necessity than it is to have a good looking cement floor. Picking up debris and sweeping out the dirt that gets tracked in is a good start. The twine I get off the hay bales that I feed is knotted securely before stowing in a closed bag or box. The barn cats love to play with loose twine and I worry that a calf would chew on a piece and suck it in like spaghetti. The twine could get wrapped around in their stomach and strangle them from the inside.

Ropes, halters and the like are also kept securely hanging but ready when needed or also in closed receptacles. I had recently been cleaning out one of the boxes and getting rid of the old twine, empty feed bags and moldy ropes that were no longer usable. While I cleaned out the big box, I placed the items that I would be keeping in a crate.
