In the BarnIn the Garden

How Much Do I Love You?

Gardeners across the country will positively drool over this post. I am sorry if it causes any discomfort but I just have to brag a little bit.
My garden is my haven. I spend a lot of time communing with dirt, albeit only few precious moments at a time between other tasks. Especially weeding, I do not care for weeding and only working on it for a short time keeps me from getting cranky so having other jobs helps to keep me with a positive outlook on life.
A pile of manure in the garden.Every couple of years, I get a load of fresh manure dropped onto a spot on the edge of the garden.
This time I got a big load of mostly manure with only a bare amount of wood chips. Wow! How thoughtful! Just what I always wanted!
You may not agree but my poop pile looks like manna to me. This will help with my gardening for many years to come with a significant boost of nitrogen and nutrients. I can hardly wait to dig in, but this pile is not ready for use yet. It has to ‘age’ and breakdown before I can use any of it. This pile will remain undisturbed for 2 or 3 years before it will be usable around plants.
In the meantime, earthworms will inhabit the ground around the pile. They grow lusciously plump with all theĀ  added goodies that get washed into the soil as they help decompose the manure. Yes earthworms, we love you THIS much.
