Help For Stump Removal
Mike was trying to dig out a stump that had been causing issues with the loaded log truck. The stump is on the outside edge of the sweeping switch-back turn at the head of the canyon and the log truck needed a bit more room to swing around the curve.
The stump had very good roots and the dozer, that you see in the foreground, just could not break the root system.
The Belt-Link shovel that was being used on the top of the hill was brought down the road to assist.
It still took the strong hydraulic arm of the shovel nearly 30 minutes to dig the stump out of the side hill. The pincers on the end of the arm had to break each of the major roots off one by one and swing them across the logging road and down into the canyon out of the way.
After the shovel pulled the last of the offending stump out of the way, Mike was able to moveĀ into the area and blade the pile of dirt off the logging road so hauling could resume.
