Eight In The Bull Pen

Out of the four youngsters we were in the process of weaning, the two bulls are now ready to join the other yearling bulls in the bull pen. The one twin heifer and the scheduled weaning heifer will remain in the show barn pen for a couple more days while we pamper them a little more.

bulls in pasture by barnWe sorted out the two bulls from the two heifers and locked the gate. It was with a nice walking stride that the new bulls took toward the bull pen. The six bulls that were already out there sensed something was up and came rushing out of the barn to greet the newest pen mates. The two bulls were a little hesitant at first with the commotion but still walked along the fence line and through the opened gate into the bull pen. There was the usual sniffing and snorting for a little while, but everyone settled down quickly and within a half hour the group was all lounging around together under the tall fir trees and the surrounding grass.

At dinner time, the two newest bulls made their way to the barn and did join the others in a meal of hay, grain and apples.

Already we have a farmer that is interested in purchasing one of these bulls out of the bull pen so the number may not stay at eight for very long.
