DANG Has A Headache
Now that we moved the main herd back up the Rabbit Run and closer to where we are with the barn and equipment, we had to do some improvising.
Our behemoth processor that is called DANG has a problem with the wiring in his big, powerful head that is run by a computer. The head is supposed to be able to grab a tree and hold on securely, cut it off and place it safely on the ground. The wires that tell the head to do all those things had been repaired quite a few times before we purchased DANG and the cobbled tangle was really messed up.
BIL came to the rescue to do magic with the myriad of switches and wires so DANG is in the process of getting fixed. It is a daunting job and the first round of getting supplies, spending days at a workbench and beginning the re-assembly process. but now it is getting close to hay season and repairs will have to be put on the back burner for a while.
In the meantime we need to make sure the open head is secure from cows and calves so we put a fence up. Since the machine is so big, only the end of the arm and head is inside the fence. The calves especially like to use the tracks and base of the monster to rub itches or rest in the shade.
Until we are able to get back to this task, DANG and his headache will sit at the edge of the landing.
I think cattle rubbing on the rest of Dang might feel good and help alleviate the headache. Of course BIL’s expertise is essential, too. Then Dang can change its name to Dancer and get to work!
