Crunchy
There is a new sound on the farm this week, and it was a long time coming. It is the sound of rock crunching on the driveway!
Our local hauler, who just happens to drive past the farm on his way home each evening, has been dropping off loads of driveway rock. Since our paths are not straight, singular roads with electric lines above that can tangle with the raised bed, we have the truck pile up the rock that cannot be spread evenly.
Mike comes along with the bucket on the tractor to finish the smoothing job. I calls out to me from my supervisory position to inquire if the end product is level enough, it is simply a dig at my lack of depth perception since I can’t tell straight, true, or level of anything much less a load of rock on a driveway that is nearly all mud.
I will however be the first to point out any low spots when puddles form during the next rain, if I can find them!

Nothing says Merry Christmas like new rock on the driveway. One year I got a load of rock for a Happy Anniversary present – and loved it!
