Bleeding Hearts
They are not the showy sprays of bright red that you would see in the garden shops and greenhouses, but the wild bleeding hearts are beginning to blossom out in the woods.
These tender plants prefer a moist environment and tend to grow mixed in with other low level plants on the banks near the river. Sticky weed, ferns, nettles and wild cucumber almost drown out the delicate leaves that look like light green parsley before a single stem forces its way through the tangle to produce the blossoms.
