Bali And Nirvana

Bali, the last holdout for this calving season has finally delivered a baby girl. It was an extra long calving season since Topanga delivered November 27, we as well as the herd is happy that all that birthing business is over and the mothers can hang out while their new babies grow up.
A cow laying on fresh dirt road at edge of forest. When we first headed across the river to feed the main herd, we noticed one cow taking advantage of the brand new dirt road. She had found the freshly churned soil to be a cozy spot to rest.
Bali was the only animal resting here at the edge of the forest while all the other cows with their calves meandered around nibbling grass. It wasn’t until we got much closer that we noticed a surprise that was tucked in next to the resting bovine.
Black Angus cow with newborn calf.A small calf was also resting in the soft dirt right alongside her mother.
When we drove closer to the pair, the baby stood up and stretched as if mom and baby had been there for hours.
It seemed like it was a long time coming for this last hold out but looking back at our records we realized that Bali had delivered her baby, Volcano, last year June 2nd. He happened to be the last calf born last year, so Bali is right on track this year.
Welcome to the farm, Nirvana, born 5/31/2018 weighing in at 61 lbs.
