August Totals Are In

Well my reporting of the fog days of August are not what I had hoped they would be. It was a pretty sad looking fog log to say the least.

I had expected at least a day or two of the thick foggy conditions that hangs around during the day but there was not a single completely fogged-in day all month. There was one day when the fog lasted later than 10am and not a one that had fog lingering into the afternoon hours.

If my Old Farmer’s Almanac is correct, we are in for an extremely mild and snow devoid winter. While I am drowning my sorrows in the possible news, I began surfing to find some other forecasts (hopefully ones that are based in science more than my unreliable fable-casting.

I was buoyed when I came across a headline;

NOAA predicts 70 percent chance of La Nina winter – what that means for where you live

La Nina would bring a colder than normal winter in the Pacific Northwest…

Now I know that colder doesn’t always mean wetter, but at least this seems to be more like an expected winter for our area, but now I’m not so sure because a little further down the page I read;

The La Nina weather pattern appears increasingly likely to return this winter for a second year running.

That was a disheartening statement because last year was not very wet at all and realized the article was from https://www.independent.co.uk/us, and I’m pretty sure that the Pacific Northwest of the United Kingdom may be a little different in terms of forecasting from the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

Perhaps I will have to keep looking for some good news.
