An Obvious Clue
Fence fixing in more deliberate in the springtime. The winter weather and the herds of elk take a toll on the fences.
While going around the far field I came across an obvious clue as to the reason for the state of the fences.
Several strands of barb wire were tangled together and elk hair hung in clumps where hide met barb as they jumped in and out of the field.
Heavy gloves are needed to untangle the wires. Many times a wire or two is broken and will need to be spliced, other times they just need to be tightened or a new post put in to strengthen the lines.
