All Together Now
Once inside the barn we fed the manger full of hay. Even Francie stuck her head into a stanchion so she could eat along with the cows. With her head stuck, it was easy for Mike to snap a numbered tag into her ear before releasing the head gates. Francie is now the proud owner of ear tag number 73.
We opened the gate into the nursery field and let the critters in to mix with the larger group at their leisure. The few cows and Francie took their time and nosed around the fence line and nibbled at the taller grass in this new field before heading to the back where the mixture of big and little critters were eating their morning meal.
It will be much easier to feed now that we have everyone together and can move them around to different fields so we can begin the process of putting lime on the turf to sweeten the soil and green up the grass.
