Beyond the FarmConservation and StewardshipIn the Woods

First Firewood Delivery

The receiving department at the stores did not seem like it was a big deal at all. Stores have hundred of deliveries a day and have had firewood deliveries during all the time that the store has been in existence.
But for us, it was a momentous day. All the work in the woods bringing the full length trees down to the landing, cutting the wood into  16 inch pieces, splitting the pieces and stacking for drying before the bundling process.

Finally,  the the first delivery of our efforts.

This whole process has been a learning experience and we would not have gotten this far with a lot of help from OWC (Oregon Woodland Co-op), all the fantastic and generous producers that constantly assist with questions, advice, training, supervision, loaning needed equipment, and even escorting us on our first day of deliveries.
So many tips of the trade were learned during this first delivery. We are looking forward to a busy winter of supplying the needs of Co-op customers.
