Cattle

Subtraction And Addition

It seems wrong to try to thin the herd out by adding more animals but that is just what happened.
Four animals needed to be taken to the auction and were being culled from the herd. One bull was not up to our standards to be able to sell as registered stock, one heifer that was not a vigorous grower, and an elder cow that no longer was able to get bred along with her calf. It was a mixture of critters, but they had to go.
They were all loaded into the stock trailer and hauled to the auction, but on the way home Mike stopped at the farm where three cow/calf pair had been pasturing since spring. The six were loaded into the trailer and brought home to spend the fall and winter.
