In the Garden

Loaded with Greens

My experiment with the wood pallet made into a mini greens garden has exploded with fresh salad makings.

It has cut down on the amount of weeding I would normally have to do, I only had one bunch of grass that decided to grow between the slats with the greens.

I used half the pallet to make a salad large enough to feed 20 people at a get-together we had here on the farm. This DIY project is sure paying for the amount of time it took to put it together. There has only been two grass seeds that germinated and had to be weeded out. If you make your own mini garden you will notice that it takes more frequent waterings to keep it moist, but the good part is that it only takes a gallon of water for each watering, greatly reducing the moisture needed to keep the greens growing.

It is wonderful addition to the table when fresh veggies come from the garden. Green onions, baby radishes, bok choi, pod peas were added to the greens. With good friends, the day was a nice break from the day to day business of running the farm.
