Temporary Fence

It is that time of year again when the temporary fence is put up through the hayfield to confine the herd moving from one pasture area to the next. The fence keeps the cows and calves moving through instead of stopping to eat the grass that we are trying to grow for hay.

Small, thin tape that is laced with metal wires is all that is needed to contain the herd because of a portable solar electric fence unit keeps a charge in the tape.
By the end of June, the tape will be rolled up and the T-posts will be removed so the field can be mowed for hay.
