Stickers And More Stickers

Those darn Canadian Thistles are very happy with the cool, wet spring we had. They are surprisingly prolific and juicy this year.

A fencerow of Canadian Thistles being cut down by hand. This patch of stickers is growing right in the fence line and cannot be reached with equipment or power tools.

Since using chemicals is out of the question, my right-hand-helper gets to cut them off one by one with a long handled garden clipper.

Left to bloom, this patch could spread seeds across the farm and well into neighboring farms. On this day we found several patches like this to attack and annihilate.
