Meeting For Mealtime
The babies are getting more brave with each day. The milder weather we have been having gives an opportunity for these three to bond while laying in the sunshine. They are staying close to each other and are happy to join their mothers for slabs of hay.
The babies sniff and jump around the hay, sometimes use their head to bump into the pile before plopping in the middle of it to enjoy a little rest.
The mother cow calmly eats around the plopped calf, and if she is still hungry, give the baby enough of a nudge to kick it out of its comfortable bed.
In the background of the picture, you can see the rest of the herd outside the fence line eating out of the mangers.
