Into the woods with you!
As of this writing it has been more than ten days since our two inches of rainfall. And it has triggered the beginning of the mushroom season.
They are pretty messy when I first find them just barely peeking out of the damp duff (the needles and cast off of the tall fir trees).
Once cleaned up the mushrooms are beautiful with firm texture. Good meals are in the plans. This is a late start to the season and a heavy freeze will end the harvest as quickly as it began.
So far I have only found a smattering of Chanterelles with no sightings of lobsters. Hopefully in the next week or so they will start popping up also
I knew you would be there when they first emerged. Good work, Susan
