First Real Fog Of August

The trace of moisture we had the last couple of days was not enough to measure in the rain gauge but it was enough to bring the relative humidity into a more normal range in this area.

For those of you who follow along with my stories, I keep track of the fog of August. The Old Farmers Almanac (must have been 10 years ago when I first read it) said that keeping a tally of the amount of foggy days will foretell the winter with cold and snows. More fog in August means harsher winter weather with snow days.

Up until now we have only had barely bits of fog in the mornings and only on the south side of our north hills. We had not seen any fog last any later than 9am and had not seen any across the river at all, until this morning.

This mornings fog was two layered. A light ground fog had formed in the hayfield while an upper layer of fog obscured the sun for a little while. It was still all gone by 10am. I am still hoping for more fog before the month is over.
