In the BarnIn the Fields

Waiting For The End Of The Day

The heat of the day is simply too much to bear out in the hayfields and we hunker down until the sun drops below the hillside to pick up loads.

From this point we still have nearly two hours of light to get a few loads stacked onto The Big Red Beast before it gets completely dark or we run out of energy.

Usually we can get the truck filled and unloaded, then filled back p to finish the unloading in the cool of the morning but some evenings it is all we can do to load the truck one time and still hold off on unloading until when the barn is at the coolest, around 5am.

Can’t imagine haying in the intense heat we had. Just tending to the chickens was enough for me. Thank God for cooler temps the last two days.
