In the FieldsIn the Woods

Beep, Beep, Beep

I set my alarm on my cell phone after our great amounts of rain. It beeped at me as a reminder that it has been ten days since we had over an inch of rain here on the farm during the storm system.

Then it beeped again the next day.

And the next.

A handful of Chanterelle mushrooms. All this beeping is to remind me that I need to get out into the forest to look for a few Chanterelle mushrooms but have been unable to do so because of the daunting, time consuming and energy draining hay season.

So if there are any fellow mushroomers out there that have a little spare time, you may find a few of those rare treats hanging out in your woods. They will be firm and on the small side if you are able to find any at all, the dryness of the forest before we had the storm system may have not given enough of a boost to the ground below the tall fir trees, but it doesn’t hurt to look.
