CattleIn the Barn

One Down, Two Moved, Two More Transferred

The two days of barn cleaning could not have been completed at a better time. Since then, we have moved the four weaning calves into a clean pen in the show barn and removed their green weaning clips. They learned all about how the head gates (stanchions) work and are no longer startled by the metal clanking.

When #54 bull was sold and delivered, it made for better and less crowded conditions in the bull pen when we moved the two newly weaned bulls out of the show barn and in with the rest of the yearling bulls. After a day of scuffling around, they are getting along with all the other bulls and come right into the barn for their share of meal times.

The steer and heifer that were left out of the weaning four have transferred them from the weaning pen and in with the heifers on the other side of the barn. With this transfer, the newest two weaned animals have a much larger grazing and lounging pasture along with the other heifers.

I know the clean barns are not going to last forever so I’m gong to enjoy the concept for as long as possible.
