In the BarnIn the Fields

Proofed

I hate to admit it but Mike is a pretty good driver. He is able to tiptoe the bulldozer around in the woods where the trees grow thick yet he is able to avoid running over small seedlings and saplings in the process. He runs the tractor in smooth, concentric circles around the field when fluffing the drying hay even though the rows cannot be seen by either Marilyn or myself (and don’t think we haven’t tried). He backs the stock trailer through gates and pastures that do not look wide enough to accommodate the truck or trailer. He pulls the Gator up to within centimeters of fences so they can be opened or closed without moving the vehicle. Mostly I just shake my head in awe, but he likes to hear that he is good at it.

PROOF

So the other day, while Mike was away from the farm and I was the one moving things around, a most unusual thing happened. I backed the Gator, loaded with wood, within one inch of the gate that I needed to open for unloading. My driving skill was so amazing (even though it was pure chance) that I had to document the event. I snapped a pic and added a single word to the text “PROOF” before sending it to Mike. I was so proud of myself.

There had been calls during the day, but Mike never mentioned the picture. Once he got back to the farm he said that he was glad that I had been working on the wood pile but why did I feel the need to send him a picture of my work? He missed the point completely that I was within a pinch of where I wanted to park. I guess my proof needs a little more explaining next time (if there is one!)

Here is one of the things your readers are for: To tell you that you are good at it, too. I’m sure there will be another time (or many) now that you have proved it to yourself.
