#99 And Amy

One of our more senior cows in the main herd, #99 Softly had her last calf in December last year. We had weaned her December calf, along with Francie calf that was born in November, a couple of months ago. And the two girls have been pen mates since.

Zion #9 (Francie’s mom) had her newest heifer calf, Zuzu born October 12 and Softly #99 delivered her new heifer calf a day later. These ladies wasted no time with getting pregnant shortly after their last deliveries.

With the all activities this last month with remembering our Local Extension Agent that was lost too soon in her young life and all of Softly’s calves being named after agents in the Get Smart TV series, I took the stretch and diverted from the lineage with another Agent name, Amy.

Welcome to the farm Amy. Born 10/13 and weighing in at 70 lbs.

Amy would like the legacy. You can expect great things from this new calf

Does Amy have office hours? I have some questions for her…

    • Ha! No office hours for this gal! Amy is so busy with cavorting around with the other calves. She gangs up with little ZuZu and the pair of them go racing around the main herd with their tails flying behind them. They are getting really good at zipping through the herd as they are trying to eat the slabs of hay thrown out for mealtime. Only after having fun, the pair of calves get down to eating a couple of bites themselves before laying in leftover piles for a nap.
