#7 And Grasshopper

#7 has a real name, Suzanna, but it never did seem to fit her. She was imported from a neighbor Registered Black Angus farm many years ago and we thought the previous owner called her Hannah so that was what we called her. When her official paperwork arrived with a different name, we were unable to vision that moniker and she continued to be Hannah.
Last year you heard all about #7 and her twins, Front and Back. We spent a lot of time with her and her calves. Much of that time was talking, Front and Back got used to hearing us as we greeted them when walking toward the barn and they would start smacking their lips in anticipation that their mother would stand still for a filling meal.
#7 or Hannah got a nickname during all that close time, she was so gentle with her babies and with us messing around her, the name Mama San kept popping up. Now the three names are interchangeable (it could be four with Suzanna, but it just doesn’t seem right).
Black Angus cow with newborn calf. This year, Mama San delivered a single bull calf (thank goodness), and will be hanging out with the rest of the cow/calf pairs in the field.
Welcome to the farm, Grasshopper. Born 5/6/18 weighing in at 70 lbs.
